Pediatric Cancer Awareness/Early Diagnosis Education

Hearing the words “I’m 99% sure that Kinsley doesn’t have a tumor” to just 24 hours later hearing the words “Kinsley has a very advanced stage tumor and we need to get treatment started ASAP” was a heart wrenching moment that no family should have to go through. Pediatric cancer is often diagnosed at a later and more advanced stage than adult cancers because these cancers often grow and spread very rapidly. By the time they're diagnosed, 80 percent of pediatric cancers have already spread to other parts of the body, compared to about 20 percent of adult cancers. We believe that knowledge is power and understanding the warning signs of pediatric cancers can be the first step in saving a child's life. With your support, we are on a mission to bring greater awareness and provide early diagnosis education to our local communities and around the globe. Together we can be more educated on the #1 cause of death by disease in children and use our knowledge to be the first step in saving a child’s life.

Family Support

The average cost of a single stay in the hospital for a child with cancer is $40,000 and families who have a child diagnosed with cancer are twice as likely to file bankruptcy due to the high treatment costs and employment disruptions. The financial and emotional impact that families face is unimaginable which is why we are on a mission to provide financial, emotional and social support to help reduce this burden during the most challenging time in their life. With your support we are able to provide gas cards to help reduce their transportation costs to each treatment. We are able to provide gift cards so they can buy groceries. We are able to provide toys, activity books and iPads to bring a lot of joy and a little distraction to little warriors that are in the hospital or quarantined to their home. We are able to provide a simple hug, an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. Every family has certain needs and we focus on providing each family with the support and resources that will help them the most. Together we can show how our love, generosity and kindness can touch the lives of the 46 families in the US each day that hear the words “your child has cancer”.

Funding for Pediatric Cancer Research

Since 1980, only three drugs have been approved in the first instance for use in children as pediatric cancer receives just 4% of the annual budget from the National Cancer Institute. No child deserves to be given up on because there are no other treatment options to save their life yet families still hear these devastating words everyday. Thanks to pediatric research, survival rates are improving but we still have a lot of work to do. Our children deserve more. Our children deserve better. With your support, we are on a mission to fund groundbreaking pediatric cancer research that will give our little warriors a better chance of winning their fight against this devastating disease.

Sloane Davisson
Meet Sloane! Sloane was diagnosed at just 15 months old with stage d bilateral retinoblastoma in November of 2017. Sloane has been treated at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis and also at Memorial Sloan-Kettering in NYC. Immediately upon diagnosis, Sloane had a port put in her chest for 6 months of systemic chemotherapy to try and shrink her tumors. She also has received laser treatments and multiple rounds of cryotherapy to the tumors. Her cancer relapsed in July of 2018 and her left eye was enucleated. She received her prosthetic eye in November, just a year after her diagnosis. Sloane has limited vision in her right eye, but is doing very well and in remission! Sloane has an older sister Audrey who takes her big sis role very seriously. Sloane loves gymnastics, dancing, and singing. She is sweet, funny, and keeps everyone around her smiling.
