Bay News 9 - July 15, 2019

TAMPA, Fla. — Ask 5-year-old Kinsley Peacock what she likes to do, and she doesn't hesitate to answer.

"Playing with my brother," said Kinsley.

Her mom says she's the best big sister ever, because she has the sweetest heart.

And, lately, she's got a sweet tooth too.

"What's your favorite kind of cookie to make?" Spectrum Bay News 9 asked Kinsley.

"Sugar cookies!" she said.

It was a hobby discovered while battling cancer.

In December, Kinsley was diagnosed with retinal blastoma, a rare eye cancer.

And during long days between hospital visits...

Kinsley is now considered cancer-free, and will begin kindergarten this fall as a healthy 5-year-old.

"She started baking cookies. Yeah, we baked a lot of cookies, right?" said Kim Peacock, Kinsley's mom.

They passed them out to friends and family, and eventually people started to make donations in return.

In May, the non-profit Kinsley's Cookie Cart was born, already raising $30,000 to help other little warriors like herself.

Kinsley has made it her mission to put a smile on kids faces during their darkest times.

"The kindness she is displaying and the heart that she has, I know it will follow her throughout her whole life," said Kim.

To Kinsley, the reason she does this is really quite simple.

"Because it makes me happy and it makes other kids happy," said Kinsley.

Kinsley is now considered cancer-free, and will begin kindergarten this fall as a healthy 5-year-old.

She and her mom say in addition to purchasing items for local kids who are sick, they hope to raise money for pediatric cancer research.
